24.01.09 Fire in the Dark Gets Positive Reviews on okayplayer.com
A recent compilation album by our friend, Rob Fields at BoldasLove.us has received positive reviews on okayplayer.com. "Fire in the Dark" is an experiment in Black Rock, a largely little known (or little acknowledged) music genre made most visible by bands FISHBONE, Living Colour, the Family Stand and Nona Hendrix, harkening back from the days of Jimi to the future of music as we know it. HTDSTUDIO was happy to lend a hand with the cover artwork and early promotion. Congratulations Rob, rock on(!) www.boldaslove.us 25.11.09 Benetton Headquarters Featured on Architizer.com

07.05.09 TIPPERARY RESIDENCE GRANTED FULL PLANNING APPROVAL BY STCC Construction start expected August 2009 The challenge was to receive planning approval in the sensitive Galtee mountains where development is generally discouraged. HTDSTUDIO's strategy was to use rural Irish vernacular to introduce contemporary design into the site. Inspiration came from industrial farm structures found in the region. Sustainability strategies were a major driver to the design. Daylighting, solar panels, solar shading, positive heat gain and views were all part of optimising the plan. HTDSTUDIO are currently in construction documents phase with construction scheduled to start in August, 2009. HTDSTUDIO's scheme is a graphic interpretation of the Continent's ubiquitous and otherwise iconic shoreline. The aluminum and eucalyptus composite shell structure creates a lace-like visual effect and is largely self-supporting, with supplemental uprights that spring from the cast concrete slab that support both ground and upper levels. End exposures are enclosed by dot screen-filtered, structural glass. This allows flexible use of its open exhibition spaces and optimizes the art viewing experience by allowing a controlled level of natural light vis-a-vis fixed vision panels and operable glass slots for ventilation in non-exhibition spaces . An entry tube 'skewers' the volume north/south for easy pedestrian flow and egress; its internal ramp slopes 1m above grade to anticipate any periodic canal flooding that is known to occur in Venice. In plan, a raised plinth provides outdoor exhibition and assembly space. DOWNLOAD PDF
